It Is Finished

“The general religion of mankind is 'do,' but the religion of the Christian is 'done.'” — Charles Spurgeon

“having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” — Colossians 2:14 NIV

We’ve all carried the weight of guilt.

We’ve all felt the pressure of a debt we couldn’t pay.

Sin doesn’t play favorites — it stains us all the same.

But the cross of Jesus does something radical: it doesn’t just cover our sin… it cancels it.

The world says, “Do more.”

Jesus says, “It is finished.”

There is unspeakable freedom in living as a “human being” — fully loved, fully forgiven — instead of a “human doing” caught in the endless cycle of trying to earn what has already been given.

We don’t serve God to pay Him back.

We serve because He paid it all.

The grace that covers us should now flow through us — freely given to others, generously lived out.

So today, let the song of your heart be the cry of surrender:

“Here’s my heart, Lord — take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.”

Father, Thank You for the finished work of Jesus. Thank You that our debt is nailed to the cross. Teach us to rest in Your grace and walk in the freedom it brings. Let our lives be a reflection of the mercy we've received — not out of obligation, but out of overwhelming gratitude.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
