The Priority of Prayer
“After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.” - Matthew 14:23 NLT
Jesus prioritized prayer above almost everything else. When was prayer so important to Him? The answer could tell us why it’s so important for us.
At its heart, prayer is deeply relational. It’s how we communicate with and better enjoy our communion with God. While Jesus was modeling prayer for His disciples—demonstrating its necessity in His daily life—He was also constantly abiding in and depending on it, showing us the way.
- He prayed in private.
- He prayed in public.
- He prayed before important events.
- He prayed during important events.
- He prayed after important events.
Now, because of Jesus, this kind of prayer is possible for us. It’s time we make approaching the throne of God our top priority.
