The Moment Everything Changed

We know from God’s Word that when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, something supernatural happens: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

In that sacred moment of surrender, our old life dies—and a new, abundant, purpose-filled life begins. For many believers, this decision to follow Jesus stands out as a turning point—a moment that marked the start of a whole new way of living. We often call it our “Come-to-Jesus” moment. It may have been dramatic or quiet, instant or gradual. Either way, it’s worth remembering, reflecting on, and sharing.

Here are a few questions to help you think through your own “Come-to-Jesus” moment:

1. When did you give your life to Christ?

2. When did you truly decide to surrender everything to Him?

3. Where were you when it happened?

4. Who or what did God use to guide you there? (Was it a parent, a sermon, a song, a conversation?)

5. What changed in your heart?

Everyone’s story is unique. The Apostle Paul encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus in a literal blaze of glory. Maybe your moment happened at summer camp, in your bedroom, during a worship service—or even in the middle of a breakdown. However it happened, the result is the same: a life forever changed by God’s love.

And when that decision is made—when you say “yes” to Jesus—some incredible, unshakable truths become yours:

1. You receive the Holy Spirit—God’s very presence comes to dwell in you (Ephesians 1:13–14).

2. You are adopted into God’s family—you become His child with full inheritance rights (Romans 8:15–17).

3. You are given the gift of eternal life—forever with Him starts now (1 John 5:11–12).

4. You are completely forgiven and made right with God—past, present, and future (Romans 5:1).

Following Jesus also means turning away from sin—not just once, but daily. That might mean seeking healing from addiction, setting new boundaries, choosing better influences, or simply learning to honor Him in every conversation and relationship. This transformation isn’t about perfection—it’s about pursuing Jesus and allowing His Spirit to shape you from the inside out.

And here’s the beautiful part: your changed life becomes a living testimony. You don’t need to preach sermons—your joy, peace, and authenticity will speak louder than words to a world that’s desperate for hope.

Today’s Challenge:

Grab your journal or device and write out your “Come-to-Jesus” moment. Reflect on when, where, how, and who God used to bring you to Him. Then ask yourself: Are there any areas of sin in my life that I’ve been holding onto? Invite the Holy Spirit to help you begin the process of turning away from those things—and turning fully toward Him.
