Redeeming the Time

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16 (NKJV)

Time is one of the most precious gifts God has given us, yet it is so easy to let it slip away unexamined. Days turn into weeks, and busyness can quickly replace true purpose if we aren't careful about where our focus lies.

To “redeem the time” means to use every opportunity wisely for God's glory. It’s an invitation to live intentionally—choosing faith over distraction, love over procrastination, and obedience over worldly compromise. Every day is a fresh assignment from God to shine His light and make an eternal impact.

We cannot regain yesterday, and tomorrow is not guaranteed. But today, we can choose to align our hearts, our daily decisions, and our time with His will.

Challenge Look at your schedule today and identify one area where you can trade a distraction for a moment of eternal purpose—whether that’s encouraging a friend, spending time in God's Word, or serving someone in need.

Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of today. Teach me to value the time You have given me and to live with purpose and wisdom. Help me turn away from empty distractions and use my moments to honor You, love others, and walk in Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
