It’s Always Your Time to Forgive

In the Bible, Jesus challenges our limits on forgiveness. When Peter asked how many times he should forgive, Jesus answered, “up to seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21–22, NKJV).

The point wasn’t math; it was a lifestyle. Forgiveness isn’t scheduled for when we “feel ready.” It’s always the right time.

Holding onto hurt can feel justified, but it quietly keeps the wound open. Forgiveness doesn’t say what happened was okay; it says the pain won’t control your heart anymore. Each time you forgive, you choose freedom over bitterness and healing over replaying the offense.

Today, if someone comes to mind, that may be your moment. You don’t have to ignore boundaries or trust instantly; but you can release the grudge to God. Forgiveness is less about them and more about your heart staying soft.

Lord, help me forgive even when it’s hard. Teach me to release hurt quickly and trust You with justice. Keep my heart free from bitterness, and let me reflect Your mercy. Amen.
