Empty Me

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30 (NKJV)

“Empty me” is a prayer of surrender. It means asking God to remove whatever is taking up space that belongs to Him—pride, fear, selfish ambition, bitterness, or our desire to control everything.

John the Baptist understood this when he said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” The Christian life is not about making more room for ourselves; it is about making more room for Jesus.

Sometimes God has to empty our hands before we can receive what He wants to place in them. He has to empty our hearts of self so they can be filled with His Spirit, His love, and His purpose.

Today, pray: “Lord, empty me of everything that keeps me from You, and fill me with more of You.”

When self decreases, Jesus increases—and that is where true life begins.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, empty me of myself and everything that does not please You. Fill me with Your Spirit, Your love, and Your purpose. Help me surrender completely so that my life may bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
