Things That Matter, Things That Don’t

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)

Life has a way of filling our hearts with things that seem important today but won’t matter tomorrow. We can spend our time chasing possessions, recognition, success, and the approval of people, only to discover that many of those things have no eternal value.

Jesus reminds us to examine where our treasure really is. What matters is not what we accumulate, but what we invest in God’s Kingdom. People matter. Souls matter. Love matters. Faithfulness matters. Obedience matters. Our relationship with Jesus matters.

The question isn’t simply, “What do I have?” but “What am I living for?”

Let’s stop allowing temporary things to distract us from eternal things. When we keep Jesus at the center, He helps us recognize the difference between what matters for a moment and what matters forever.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me recognize the things that truly matter. Keep me from wasting my life on temporary things that have no eternal value. Set my heart on You, Your Kingdom, and the people You have placed in my life. May my time, treasures, and talents bring glory to You. In Jesus name Amen.
