When God’s Fame Is All That Matters

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30 (NKJV)

It is easy to become concerned with our own name, recognition, and reputation. But as followers of Christ, our greatest desire should be that God’s name is lifted higher than ours.

John the Baptist understood this. He wasn’t looking for the spotlight—he was pointing people to Jesus. When God’s fame becomes our focus, we stop asking, “How does this make me look?” and start asking, “Does this bring glory to God?”

Our talents, opportunities, influence, and even our victories are gifts from Him. We are not the destination; we are the sign pointing others to Jesus.

Today, make this your prayer:

“Lord, let my life make Your name famous. May people see less of me and more of You.”
