The Eyes Have It

“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. For what has God above chosen for us? What is our inheritance from the Almighty on high? Isn’t it calamity for the wicked and misfortune for those who do evil? Doesn’t he see everything I do and every step I take?” - ‭‭Job‬ ‭31‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Job was a man of great integrity. Perhaps he knew or learned that the eyes are not just the windows to the soul, they are also the doorway. Job made a covenant with his eyes to directly confront a chronic sin that trips up so many of us men , and we will not exclude women from this struggle. Job was determined to bounce his eyes rather than lurk and lust when a woman was in his presence. This is also great advice for ladies when men are in your presence. Jesus emphasizes the gravity of lust, equating it to the act of adultery. Today, let us emulate Jobs commitment. By doing so we honor all women and all men just as Jesus did, not to mention, we are honoring the father through our obedience.

Master, help us!
