When Your Past Won’t Leave You Alone

“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal…” — Philippians 3:13–14 (NKJV)

Sometimes the hardest battle isn’t what’s happening today—it’s what happened yesterday. Past mistakes, failures, regrets, and painful memories can keep replaying in our minds. But your past may be part of your story without being the author of your future.

Paul had a past he could have been ashamed of, yet he refused to live there. He chose to press forward. God’s grace is greater than your worst mistake, and His purpose for your life is not cancelled by what happened before you knew better.

You cannot change yesterday, but through Christ, you can surrender yesterday to God and walk faithfully into today.

Prayer

Lord, help me stop living in what You have already forgiven. Give me the strength to release my past, receive Your grace, and press forward into the future You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
