The Least of the Least

“Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” - ‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬, ‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus astounded his disciples when they came upon him talking to a Samaritan woman at the well. Typically, Jews had nothing to do with Samaritans, especially not Samaritan women. She was a woman with a questionable history. Jesus broke some earthly, cultural standards by talking with her because compassion ruled his heart. Unlike many who looked good on the outside and followed all the rules, the woman at the well was an outcast, but she was loved greatly by Jesus. What outcast people in our lives need us to show up and show them the great love of Jesus?

It’s time to get our hands dirty!
