Active Faith in the Waiting
“So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”—Hebrews 10:35-36 (NLT)
There’s an important principle in Scripture that can open the doors to the treasure houses of heaven once you learn and apply it. This principle is especially vital during times of waiting, as it keeps you steady and strong when storms of adversity and waves of doubt arise.
What is this crucial precept? It’s the principle of claiming God’s promises—helping you persevere with hope as you wait for Him.
Many people believe that waiting is passive, but that’s not what the Lord intended for us as believers. Yes, we must be still in the sense that we surrender our situations and allow the Father to work through our circumstances. However, we are also called to be active—growing spiritually by resolutely taking hold of God’s Word. As we discover His will, we actively claim His promises and continue obeying Him step by step.
Think of it like this: Just as we build physical muscles in a gym, times of waiting are opportunities to develop our spiritual muscles—our faith, hope, and perseverance. We do this by deliberately incorporating Scripture into our lives and trusting that the Father is working on our behalf.
Therefore, we must endure, walking in His will—no matter what happens or how long it takes—so that we can be certain we will receive the blessings He has planned for us.
