Eyes on the Prize
“Think not of the sinner or of the greatness of his sin, but think of the greatness of the Savior.” — Charles Spurgeon
“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” — Colossians 3:2–3 NLT
Oh, the joy of not having to stay stuck in the past. We spoke of this the other day, but to stay fixated on our past, and our sin is to wallow around in a pigsty with the pigs. It’s not the calling of God on our lives. It’s to be raised to victory, confident of our being washed by the blood of Christ, and with holy boldness living out that which God has called us to do. You might ask what is it that God is calling us to do? Bottom line, bring the Father glory via the gifts that he’s given to us. To poke holes in the darkness. To bring hope to the hopeless. To watch tears of sadness turn into shouts of rejoicing. I could go on and on the whole day, but for the sake of your time, I encourage each of us today to keep our eyes on the prize, not on our faults and failures.
Father, today we give you our faults, our failures, we confess our sin and ask you to empower us through the power of the Holy Spirit to do that which you called us to do. Cause us to be focused on your glory.
In Jesus name
