Wisdom That Glorifies God

“Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?” Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.” ‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We know that the text above is speaking of King Solomon, asking of the Lord to grant him wisdom to lead the people that he was king over. And not only does God grant him wisdom to lead his people, but God gives him riches and wealth and favor with the people. You may be thinking this doesn’t apply to me because He is speaking to King Solomon. But the truth is these verses do apply to us. As children of God, He has given us each responsibility within our own family—either to be the priest of the home, or to be a woman who glorifies God with her life by raising and teaching well in the family, or to be a child that honors his father and mother. I will say most assuredly that we are most able to go before the Lord and ask for wisdom. We may ask, will He bring riches and honor and wealth to us as well? I believe so emphatically. It may not come in the form that we look for it, but I believe riches, wealth, and honor come in many different forms. But here’s the catch to the receiving of the wisdom, the riches, and the honor—it’s a must that our wisdom be to glorify God, the riches and the wealth be used to glorify God, and the honor that He gives us among the people must be used to bring glory to God. If we’re willing to do so, the sky is the limit.

Father, today we ask you for wisdom in Jesus name!
