A Faith That Walks on Water

“And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.’ So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.” — Matthew 14:28–29 (NKJV)

It is easy to trust God while our feet are planted on solid ground. But real growth happens when Jesus calls us to step out of the boat and into the uncertain waters of faith.

Peter wasn’t testing Jesus; he was responding to Jesus’ voice. The other disciples stayed in the boat where it felt safe, but Peter experienced a miracle because he was willing to step into the storm toward his Savior. As long as his eyes stayed fixed on Jesus, he did the impossible.

When life gets stormy, fear tells us to stay where it’s comfortable. But Jesus invites us to trust Him beyond our comfort zone. Step out of fear, step past your doubts, and keep your eyes firmly fixed on Him.

Challenge Identify one area in your life where fear has kept you in the boat. Take one concrete step of faith today, trusting that Jesus will sustain you on the water.

Prayer Lord Jesus, give me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and follow Your voice. When the winds and waves of life try to distract me, keep my eyes fixed on You. Help me to trust You completely, knowing that You are holding my hand through every storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
