Why Would We Ever Say No to Jesus?

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10 (NKJV)

Why would we ever say no to Jesus? He is the One who loves us when we are unlovable, forgives us when we have failed, gives us hope when we feel hopeless, and offers eternal life when this life is over.

Yet there are times when Jesus calls us to surrender, obey, forgive, step out in faith, or leave something behind—and we hesitate. We say “no” because we want our way more than His way.

But what are we really saying no to? We are saying no to the One who gave everything for us.

Jesus never asks us to surrender something that compares with what He has already given. His plans are greater, His love is deeper, and His purpose is eternal.

Today, when Jesus calls, don’t ask, “What will I have to give up?” Ask, “What could I possibly gain by saying no?”

Prayer Jesus, forgive me for the times I have said no when You were calling me to trust and obey. Give me a surrendered heart that says “yes” to You—even when I don’t understand. You gave everything for me; help me live everything for You. In Jesus name Amen.
